3rd Annual Whale Shark Festival

Mon, July 12, 2010 at 8:44 am

In just a few days, the Third Annual Whale Shark Festival will take place at the City Hall of Islas Mujeres just outside of Cancun. The aim is to raise awareness of these gentle giants both locally and internationally. Much of the attention will be placed on preserving the ecosystems that are vital to the Whale Shark's survival.

This year's keynote speaker is the renowned Marine Biologist from the Georgia Aquarium, Dr. Al Dove. He will be discussing his research and findings as part of the famed Mote Marine Lab and Project Domino. Admission is free and open to the public. Dr. Al Dove's presentation, “Whale Sharks: from the aquarium to the sea,” will take place July 17, 2010 (6:45-7:30pm). For more information visit the Whale Shark Fest website.
